How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on GMC Sierra 3500?

To replace the ECT sensor, you'll need to drain the cooling system below the sensor first, then replace it. Remove the ECT sensor from the ECT sensor electrical connector. When installing a new sensor, see to it that parts that are being replaced are the right part number for the application. For reuse of the old sensor, coat threads with sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent. Mount the ECT Sensor and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Reconnect the ECT sensor electric connector and fill up the cooling system. Be careful when handling the coolant sensor because if it is damaged, it will affect the work of the control system of fuel and ensure that the right torque specifications are used for proper work and avoid damages.
