To clean the Throttle Body, the air cleaner outlet duct must be removed first. Check the Throttle Body bore and throttle plate for deposits. With the throttle plate opened, check all surfaces. Use a clean shop towel and top engine cleaner gm p/n 1052626 (Canadian P/N 993026), or equiv. To clean the Throttle Body bore and throttle plate. Do not clean assemblies with the throttle position (TP), idle air control (IAC), valve, or sealed throttle shaft bearings with immersion cleaners or harsh solvents since these can damage electric components, sensors, and seals or o-rings, and could degrade the grease on non-serviceable throttle shaft onbackpressed. Avoid the use of wire brushes and scrapers as it can damage the Throttle Body components and do not use cleaners containing methyl ethyl ketone as it can cause unnecessary damage to components. In case deposits are too much, remove Throttle Body for cleaning, a parts cleaning brush should not be immersed in any cleaning solvent, otherwise, clean the Throttle Body. Once cleaning has been done, reassembly and installation of Throttle Body follows before reinstalling of air cleaner outlet duct.
