How to replace the lower intermediate steering shaft on GMC Savana 2500?

You must ensure that the wheels face directly forward and the Steering Column rests in the lock position before starting work to safeguard the sir coil assembly. Insert the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J42640) into the Steering Column lower access hole as your first step. Note reference points on the lower intermediate shaft to power steering gear to later use during reassembly. Then break free the retaining bolt between the shaft and power steering gear. Start by disconnecting both ends of the power steering gear from the lower intermediate shaft then remove the bolt that fastens the lower intermediate shaft to the intermediate shaft bearing. Use a hoist to detach the lower intermediate shaft from the intermediate shaft bearing then extract it from the vehicle. After securing the lower intermediate shaft in the vehicle, connect it to the intermediate shaft bearing. Screw in the retaining bolt which holds the intermediate shaft bearing into place while tightening it to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Position the lower intermediate shaft within the marks it previously had and connect it to the power steering gear by tightening its retaining bolt to 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.). Finish the installation process by taking out the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J42640) through the Steering Column lower access hole.
