How to replace the Lash Adjusters on GMC Sierra 1500?

The first step for valve lifter replacement involves removing both Cylinder Head and gasket then the valve lifter guide bolts. Use the valve lifter remover (J3049-A) tool on stuck valve lifters contaminated by gum or varnish although after extraction remove the valve lifters from the guide. You must properly mark the components and organize them for successful reinstallation. Check and inspect the valve lifters before cleaning them when needed. Reused valve lifters need to be reinstalled into their original guide positions. The valve lifters require clean engine oil before insertion into their proper lifter guides through alignment of the flat surfaces between the components. Complete the lifter into the guide bore while installing valve lifters and guide to the engine block before torquing guide bolts to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Install the Cylinder Head along with the gasket.

How to replace the Lash Adjusters on GMC Yukon?

The process starts with removing both the Cylinder Head and gasket before proceeding with Lash Adjuster replacement. First remove the Lash Adjuster guide bolts (211) then extract the Lash Adjuster guides (210) and adjusters while carefully memorizing the original guide positioning because the notched section needs to align with the engine block's locating tab. Next proceed to extract lash adjusters (209) from guide (210) before marking or organizing replacement parts. The clean-up and inspection of lash adjusters should happen when needed. Reinstalling requires application of clean engine oil on both lash adjusters (209) and engine block Lash Adjuster bores before putting lash adjusters into lifter guides (210). When seating the lash adjusters, position the flat areas on the adjuster tops against the flat areas in the adjuster guide bores before pushing the adjusters fully into position. The engine block gets its lash adjusters and guide (210) installation following fastener caution rules while the guide bolts receive a 12 nm (106 lb in) torque specification. Reinstall the Cylinder Head while also installing the gasket.

The first step for valve lifter replacement involves removing both Cylinder Head and gasket then the valve lifter guide bolts. Use the valve lifter remover (J3049-A) tool on stuck valve lifters contaminated by gum or varnish although after extraction remove the valve lifters from the guide. You must properly mark the components and organize them for successful reinstallation. Check and inspect the valve lifters before cleaning them when needed. Reused valve lifters need to be reinstalled into their original guide positions. The valve lifters require clean engine oil before insertion into their proper lifter guides through alignment of the flat surfaces between the components. Complete the lifter into the guide bore while installing valve lifters and guide to the engine block before torquing guide bolts to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Install the Cylinder Head along with the gasket.

First remove the Lash Adjuster guide bolts (211) then extract the Lash Adjuster guides (210) and adjusters while carefully memorizing the original guide positioning because the notched section needs to align with the engine block's locating tab. Next proceed to extract lash adjusters (209) from guide (210) before marking or organizing replacement parts. The clean-up and inspection of lash adjusters should happen when needed. Reinstalling requires application of clean engine oil on both lash adjusters (209) and engine block Lash Adjuster bores before putting lash adjusters into lifter guides (210). When seating the lash adjusters, position the flat areas on the adjuster tops against the flat areas in the adjuster guide bores before pushing the adjusters fully into position. The engine block gets its lash adjusters and guide (210) installation following fastener caution rules while the guide bolts receive a 12 nm (106 lb in) torque specification. Reinstall the Cylinder Head while also installing the gasket.
