First, partially drain the engine coolant below the ect sensor to replace it. Remove the ect sensor electrical connector from the engine wiring harness and the camshaft cover, ensuring not to mess with the coolant sensor as it can compromise the fuel control system. Now with the help of the slot on the bottom of the ect sensor socket j 45861 carefully extract the ect sensor from the Cylinder Head. If the installation of the original or a new sensor is carried out without sealant, apply thread sealer gm p/n 12346004/ canadian p/n 10953480 or its equivalent. Using the ect sensor socket (J 45861), install with great care the ect sensor into the Cylinder Head and tighten 14 n.m (124 lb in). Lastly, reconnect the ect sensory electrical connector to the engine wiring harness and the camshaft covering as well as fill the engine coolant.
