Start by removing the tire and wheel and following with the removal of the outer tie rod retaining nut which you should dispose. A wedge must be driven between the joint and attached part for safety when avoiding joint disconnect to stop seal damage. Detach the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle by using the component named steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B). The technician should loosen the jam nut to free the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod and should discard the jam nut. Before putting the new jam nut on the outer tie rod you should first clean the Steering Knuckle taper and apply suitable chassis lubricant to the inner tie rod threads. The rod assembly should be connected from the inner tie rod to the Steering Knuckle and the outer tie rod. After placing the new outer tie rod retaining nut in position, apply torque to 45 n.m (33 lb ft) with 95 degrees additional angular torque and also torque the outer Tie Rod End jam nut to 70 n.m (52 lb ft). After putting back the tire and wheel you must lower the vehicle for adjusting front toe measurements.
