Coil Springs on the Chevrolet Trailblazer model are suspension units that provide support to the vehicle mass and consist of one or more coils that are tasked with damping the vehicle's movements. When coil springs are faulty or worn out, one can experience a phenomena as the following: sagging, bottoming out and abnormal tiring of the tires. Automatic transmission replacement springs maintains the height, quality, and the wheels alignment of the automobile for better ride. Switching to variable rate or cargo coils can prove useful for people who often transport rather massive loads. Coil springs are available in different heights and stiffness, linear rate, progressive, and dual rate springs serve as additional options for the vehicle's control and comfort level. Further, coilovers are also variable and there are height adjustable spring kits which enable one to change the height without the need to change the complete lowering system.

Chevrolet Trailblazer Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair a coil springs and shock absorber on Chevrolet Trailblazer?
    A:
Begin the shock absorber servicing process by elevating and supporting the vehicle while removing its tire followed by the wheel. You must start by disconnecting the shock module from its vehicle position before removing its yoke to shock absorber pinch bolt and nut. A flat tool should be used to loosen the pin at the yoke of the shock module before removing it from the absorbing device. The installer should apply heater hose pieces to the shock module spring which will be contacted by the strut spring compressor (J45400) at the lower spring region before putting the shock module into the strut spring compressor (J45400). Continue turning the spring compressor forcing screw while checking to see that the shock absorber offers easy movement. The shock absorber upper retaining nut needs removal so you can pull the shock absorber out of the shock module. Release the compressor forcing screw to separate the upper mounting plate along with coil spring from the j45400 strut spring compressor unit. Begin installation by placing both coil spring and upper mounting plate onto the strut spring compressor (J45400). Then compress the spring with the tool again for further processing. Insert the shock absorber into the shock module then fasten it using the retaining nut at 45 nm torque setting (33 ft. Lbs.). Sever the shock module connection to the strut spring compressor (J45400) so you can remove the heater hose pieces near its spring. Screw the shock module yoke to its position on the shock absorber through the pinch bolt and the nut until achieving 70 nm torque (52 ft. Lbs. Torque). Reinstall the shock module onto the vehicle followed by installation of tire and wheel before lower the car.
  • Q: How to replace the rear coil springs on Chevrolet Trailblazer?
    A:
Vehicle owners should start by supporting the vehicle while raising it then install the rear axle support. Proceed by eliminating the shock absorber lower mounting bolts while keeping the rear axle from reaching the frame contact point to prevent damage on the upper Control Arms. Handle the Coil Springs with extreme caution when lowering the rear axle because rough handling will result in coating damage which causes early component failure. Proceed by taking out the rear Coil Springs next. Place the new rear Coil Springs into position and lift the rear axle. Fasten the shock absorber lower mounting bolts to 85 n.m (63 lb ft) of torque. The final step involves taking the rear axle support off and then lowering the vehicle.
