The Throttle Body of Chevrolet Tracker cars is one of the main parts of vehicles that manages the amount of air supplied to the engine and depends on the frequency of the go-floor operation. Located between the air filter box and the intake manifold, the throttle body contains a butterfly valve that restricts/permits the air to enter into the engine based on operation of the valve. In fuel injected vehicles the TB is mechanically or electronically coupled with the gas pedal and the sensors feedback to the computer to adjust the amount of fuel to be delivered to the injectors. Older vehicles may use TBI- Throttle Body Injection for basic fuel injection, while the newer vehicles use Multi port fuel injection with independent fuel delivery systems. ME C S and related usage, for the most part, have eliminated mechanical linkage with ETC providing better depend ability and compatibility with crash avoidance technologies. Throttle bodies are rather rugged, but might clog or get worn down by deposits to the point that they need to be cleaned or replaced, with many internal pieces like the ETC motors and the TPS sensors being easily replaceable.

Chevrolet Tracker Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the throttle body safely and effectively on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
Beginning Throttle Body service requires eye protection for the safety of your eyes from compressed air usage. Start the service with Throttle Body removal from the vehicle while the idle air control (IAC) valve and throttle position (TP) sensor must be disconnected because compressed air and solvents could damage these components. Wipe down the throttle valve and throttle bore until all accumulated dirt and carbon deposits are removed. Clean all dirt and carbon debris both from bypass air passages and the crankcase breather passage along with its pipe. Use compressed air to perform a complete cleaning of these system components. The install of the Throttle Body requires a throttle valve inspection to ensure free movement before the final attachment.
  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
In order to replace the Throttle Body assembly, the intake air inlet duct and the breather hose are taken out of the Throttle Body. Remove the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector. Drain the cooling system and detach the lower coolant hose ( ) and the upper coolant hose ( ) from the Throttle Body. Take off the accelerator control cable rotatting the throttle lever to wide open throttle (WOT) and removing the end of the cable at the slot side. Next, take out the two nuts/two bolts which hold the Throttle Body and gasket to the Intake Manifold and clean any gasket material left in the Intake Manifold . For installation, replace a new gasket and the Throttle Body onto the Intake Manifold , tightening it with the two nuts/two bolts to a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Connect the accelerator control cable again to the throttle lever that may need adjustment. Then connect the lower coolant hose and the upper coolant hose to the Throttle Body, iac valve electrical connector and tp sensor electrical connector . At last, attach the breather hose andinstall the intake air inlet duct to Throttle Body.
