To service the left front Axle Shaft, loosen and raise the vehicle, then unbolt the 4 skid plate bolts and the front skid plate if equipped. Next, remove the front tire and wheel assembly, followed by removingthe 6 bolts and the flange. Remove the drive Axle Shaft snap ring and the drive Axle Shaft spindle washer from the drive Axle Shaft. Work the reference marks on the inner Axle Shaft flange and the differential side joint flange of the drive Axle Shaft for proper installation. Unbolt the 3 bolts, 3 nuts and the joint flange of differential joint while working from the inner Axle Shaft flange and then pull out the drive shaft axle assembly. For installation, insert the wheel-side joint of the drive front Axle Shaft into the
Steering Knuckle then attach the differential side joint flange of the drive Axle Shaft to the inner Axle Shaft flange, the reference marks line up. Secure the 3 pushnuts and place the 3 bolts, tightening them to 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.). Close the tire lock. Next, have the drive Axle Shaft spindle washer on the drive Axle Shaft, then drive Axle Shaft snap ring at the drive axle end. Apply general motors sealant, gm p/n 1052366 to the flange before attaching it and fastening it with the 6 flange bolts, should be tightened to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). If installed, reinstall the front skid plate and bolt four of them, ensuring complete tightness with 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.). Finally, re-install the front tire and wheel assembly and lower the vehicle.
