Essentials of the Chevrolet SSR Oil Pan are as follow: The Chevrolet SSR models were manufactured between the years of 2003 and 2006 and the Chevrolet SSR Oil Pan is one of the major parts of this car model. The intended purpose of the Oil Pan is to contain and regulate the engine oils in a wet sump system so as to allow the oil pump to always pull adequate supplies of the oil to adequately lubricate and cool the moving parts of the engine. This design not only contributes to the non-leaking trait but also the appropriate oil level, thus increasing the general effectiveness and steadiness of the Chevrolet SSR. Earlier, the Chevrolet SSR Oil Pans were fabricated using stamped steel but have moved to the use of cast aluminum which is more durable and gives proper management to oil. Another aspect of the Oil Pan is a provision for the positioning of the engine and works to eliminate oil swirling at high-performance driving, thus providing adequate oil supply. Designed to fit either the 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 or the sophisticated 6.0L LS2 V8 engines of the Chevrolet SSR, this Chevrolet SSR Oil Pan is an important part used for the enhancement of the these magnificent engines. A:
In order to remove the Oil Pan, first eliminate the Starter motor and cross member brace, next eliminate the transmission cover bolt and cover if required. Drain the engine oil and remove engine Oil Filter then install them back to the Drain Plug and Oil Filter until tight. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission of 4l60-e, then remove the transmission bolt and the stud on the right side as well as the bottom bolt on the left side in case it is necessary. Unplug the oil level sensor power connector and disconnect the engine harness from the front of the Oil Pan. Then remove the Oil Pan bolts as well as the Oil Pan itself, making sure no foreign material is injected into the oil passages. Cap or cover the openings when necessary. Drill out the Oil Pan Gasket retaining rivets, if necessary, and remove the gasket from the pan, discarding both the gasket and rivets. For the installation, there is no need to reuse the Oil Pan Gasket and do not rivet the new one to the Oil Pan. Leave a 5 mm (0.20 inch) diameter, 20 mm (0.80 inch) long bead of sealant gm p/n 12378190 or equivalent onto the engine block over the tabs of front and rear cover gaskets that extend into the Oil Pan surface. Align the oil gallery passages in the Oil Pan and the engine block to the Oil Pan Gasket and then preassembly the gasket on the pan. Mount the gasket onto the pan and proceed with the Oil Pan bolts through the gasket. Mount the Oil Pan, gasket, and bolts to the engine block and bolt until snug but not overtightened. If this car comes with the 4l60-e auto transmission install the transmission bolt and stud on the right until fitted and install bolt at the bottom left of needed. No set the Oil Pan and Oil Pan to Oil Pan front cover bolts to 25 nm (18 ft.
