Chevrolet HHR Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on Chevrolet HHR?
    A:
The first procedure when replacing the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve involves taking out the air cleaner assembly from its studs before setting it aside. First disconnect both cables of the evap canister purge valve so it can be removed from the Intake Manifold. The procedure begins with removing the chassis evap vapor line from the evap canister purge valve. First remove the evap canister purge valve bracket bolt and afterward extract the evap canister purge valve bracket. Check the valve ports of the evap canister purge valve after removing it from its bracket to check for carbon release. Replace both the evap canister and required components when carbon particles are detected in loose condition. The installation process begins by attaching the evap canister purge valve to the bracket before placing the combined bracket to the Cylinder Head while following fastener caution recommendations. Tighten the evap canister purge valve bracket bolt to 18 nm torque or 13 lb ft torque. The evap canister purge valve tube needs installation to the Intake Manifold and the chassis evap vapor line needs connection to the evap canister purge valve. The evap canister purge valve electrical connector should be reconnected after installing the air cleaner assembly on its studs.
