    Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on Chevrolet HHR?
    A:
    Depress and release the brake pedal several times to empty the Brake Booster vacuum stored in its reserve when replacing the Brake Master Cylinder. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Unload the electrical center and modules off the underhood bracket before you detach the wiring harness plugs. Separate the brake fluid level indicator switch cable and remove the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting. Also seal the brake pipe fitting and plug the master cylinder outlet to stop brake fluid from leaking or getting dirty. Turn off the master cylinder primary brake pipe by connecting caps to both brake pipe and master cylinder outlet ports. Cargo-free you disconnect both Brake Master Cylinder nuts while plugging master cylinder Clutch Hose's and capping the master cylinder inlet port. Take the master cylinder and the master cylinder to vacuum Brake Booster seal out from the master cylinder body. First bench bleed your master cylinder then position the master cylinder onto its seating groove inside the vacuum booster body. Join the Clutch Master Cylinder side of the master cylinder hose to the quick connect fitting when positioning the unit to the booster. Secure the Brake Master Cylinder nuts with a torque value of 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Lock the master cylinder primary brake pipe fit first at 21 n.m (15 lb ft), then fit the secondary brake pipe and secure it with 21 n.m (15 lb ft). Place the electrical center module in the underhood bracket then position the powertrain control modules on top of it. After completing the other steps connect the battery negative wire and release any air left in the hydraulic brake system.
