To replace a Crankshaft position reluctor ring, then you need to first remove the engine front cover and then you can remove the reluctor ring. It is extremely important to align the reluctor ring appropriately because improper alignment may lead to damage to the components and negative impact on obd ii system operation. When installing the reluctor ring on the engine, one must be certain that it is installed facing towards the engine front cover to prevent also cracking the front cover as well as the reluctor ring. Mount the reluctor ring such that its keyway aligns with the Crankshaft balancer key, and use a j 5590 pinion bearing race installer (J 5590) to force the reluctor ring onto the Crankshaft until it achieves full contact with the Crankshaft sprocket.
