The inflatable restraint
Steering Wheel module coil requires replacement only after disabling the sir system. Always keep your vehicle's wheels pointing straight ahead with its
Steering Column in the lock position before disconnecting the Steering Column or intermediate shaft from the steering gear because this prevents damage to the air bag clock spring assembly. The Steering Column anti rotation pin (J 42640) establishes column stability for replacement operations. The removal process starts with taking off the Steering Wheel from the shaft. If your vehicle has tilt functionality remove the lever first then remove the lower trim cover by taking out 2 torx(R) head screws and the upper trim cover by removing 2 torx(R) head screws. First detach the wire harness straps from the Steering Wheel column wire harness before removing the retaining ring to remove the air bag clock spring. Discard any air bag clock springs that need replacement. When installing a new air bag clock spring assembly place it in the center and maintain the centering tab in position until installation concludes. Position the air bag clock spring assembly toward the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly then push the coil onto the
Steering Shaft assembly before firmly seating the retaining ring into its groove. The new air bag clock spring requires installation of its upper trim cover with 2 torx(R) head screws and its lower trim cover with 2 torx(R) head screws while ensuring all tabs find their correct fittings. Connect and drop the tilt lever handle into the Steering Column after which install the Steering Wheel to the shaft and activate the sir system.
