How to replace the inner tie rod on Chevrolet Corvette?

Start by gathering the following tools: inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028). Inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028). Start by eliminating the Rack and Pinion Boot from the vehicle. Secure a gear in a vise while maintaining the steering gear preload adjustment since moving the inner Tie Rod without adjustment could damage components. After removing the shock dampener from the inner Tie Rod housing you should insert it back onto the rack. The rack should now be positioned for the pipe wrench to access the inner Tie Rod housing while using a regular wrench to turn the flats counterclockwise until the rack and housing separate. Repeat this procedure by separating first the inner Tie Rod housing from the rack then the inner Tie Rod. All loctite (R) products must be removed from both the inner Tie Rod's threads with the rack before proceeding. The shock dampener slides onto the rack with clean threads and requires loctite (R) 262 or equivalent to prepare the inner Tie Rod threads before assembly. The inner Tie Rod attachment to the rack requires a pipe wrench and torque wrench with the inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) to achieve 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) of torque. Repetition should be performed for the inner Tie Rod followed by correct staking of the inner Tie Rod assembly housing to the male rack. A 0.25 mm gauge should be used to verify stakes by checking if they could fit between the rack and housing component. After placing the shock dampener over the inner Tie Rod housing let it drop to rest at the housing base.
