To replace the camshaft timing chain and sprocket with the models of s52 as well as the l, ls9, ls7, and ls3, first, make sure that the
Crankshaft assembly is not rotated once you remove the timing chain to avoid damage to the piston arrangements and stresses or valves. First, remove the Oil Pump, and then throw away the camshaft sprocket bolt and remove the camshaft sprocket and timing chain . For ls9 go ahead and eliminate (232) the Timing Chain Tensioner and (231) bolts; for ls7, take out the chain dampener (232) and bolts (231). Use j 41816-2 , j 41558 , boltes , and j 8433 to remove the sproocket of Crankshaft ( 207) and its key if required. When installing, insert the key into the Crankshaft key way, tap it till it is seated and align the crank shaft sprocket (207) with the key way. Install using en-47812 and j 41665 until fully seated and rotate into position to the 12 o'clock position. Compress the Timing Chain Tensioner guide and install en46330 (LS9 only), ret, timing chain tensioner (232) and bolts (231) 25 nm (18 lb ft) only for ls9 and chain dampener (232) and bolts (231) ls7. Make sure that the teeth of the sprockets intermesh and the alignment marks on camshaft and Crankshaft sprockets are appropriate with the camshaft sprocket located at 6 o'clock mark and Crankshaft sprocket at 12 o'clock. Remove en 46330 (LS9 only), temporarily install the automatic transmission flex plate or manual transmission
Flywheel and bolts, then job j 42386-a to torque bolts to 50 nm (37 lb ft). After replacing the j 42386-a, next install the camshaft sprocket bolts and tighten them at 30 nm (22 lb ft) and then eliminate the flex plate or Flywheel and finally reintegrate the Oil Pump.
