Q: How to replace the Pickup Box Side Emblem and Side Rear Nameplate on Chevrolet Colorado?
A:
Before installing new decals on your colorado's pickup box and side rear nameplate you should protect them by taping first and use the j 25070 heat gun. Apply a j 25070 heat gun from 152 mm (6 in) distance and heat the surface with circular movements for 30 seconds. A plastic flat-bladed tool must be used to remove the damaged decal from painted surfaces to prevent paint damage. You must remove surface adhesive using a 3m(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) p/n 07501 or equivalent) while cleaning the area with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. Installation must begin after removing the tail lamp. Unmarked surfaces need tape placement for measuring distances as the top edge of the pickup box sits 207.1 mm (8.15 inches) from the decal's highest point and the rear edge of the sheet metal in the tail lamp opening is 71.8 mm (2.83 inches) behind the decal. Use a j 25070 heat gun to warm the door surface to 21°c (70°F) minimum while keeping your hands off the decal's adhesive side. Gently strip the front end of the decal backing then attach the decal to the painted surface without stopping to remove additional backing. Check the decal's bonding by pressing it on the panel while continuing to remove the backing. Finish by rolling it across the panel with your hands. Once the tail lamp installation is complete remove the tape from the decal edges before reinstalling the tail lamp.
Q: How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on Chevrolet Colorado?
A:
You need a Heat Gun (J 25070) and the 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) to repair the front side door emblem on a Colorado. Start your work by wrapping tape near the door emblem to keep it safe and in position. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to heat the emblem/nameplate at 152 mm (6 inches) away for 30 seconds by rotating it in circles. Use a plastic tool to carefully take off the emblem/nameplate together with all the adhesive left on both the door panel and back of the emblem/nameplate. Clean the door surface with liquid VMP mix made for varnishes and painting. Mark the location with tape at 166 mm (6.54 inches) down and 117.4 mm (4.62 inches) across from the door bottom to install the emblem/nameplate. Warm the door panel with the Heat Gun to achieve at least 70°F (21°C) temperature without touching the adhesive backing. Press the emblem/nameplate front section directly onto the door panel by removing its backing while you keep removing the other part. Press and roll the emblem/nameplate to secure it properly before inspecting for good bonding and then removing the protective tape around the door emblem.
