Chevrolet Cobalt Transmission Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the transmission pan on Chevrolet Cobalt?
    A:
The first step to replace the Oil Pan begins by lifting the vehicle then supporting it properly. First prepare a suitable container to catch transmission fluid before unbolting the Oil Pan along with draining the oil. First remove the Oil Pan attaching bolts followed by extracting the Oil Pan together with its gasket. Check the Oil Pan for dent damage and dry all surfaces before you install it. If the Oil Pan gasket has broken sealing ribs you must replace it with an updated gasket before installing the pan and replacing the bottom pan in case it shows damage. Put on the Oil Pan attaching bolts before securing them at 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Inspect the Transmission Pan after dropping the vehicle while monitoring for leakage then bring the fluid level to its correct measurement. Check the fluid level once again and look for any gasket leakage from the Oil Pan.
