  The replacement process of intake camshaft and lash adjusters starts with removing the intake camshaft position actuator. Begin removing bearing cap bolts with careful turns to break the camshaft spring tension then record bearing cap positions before proceeding. Stepping further into the procedure you must remove the bearing caps and bearing cap bolts after which proceed with removal of the intake camshaft. You must set aside all roller followers alongside hydraulic lash adjusters when preparing for future installation. Extract the camshaft roller followers with the hydraulic element lash adjusters. Lubricate valve tips and all hydraulic element lash adjusters after placing them into the Cylinder Head bores with gm pn 12345501 (Canadian PN 992704) or equivalent items. The roller followers from used camshaft applications must regain their original placement on the camshaft. When installing a new camshaft you must replace all roller followers that function from this new camshaft. Place each camshaft roller follower on top of the valve stem tip next to its corresponding lash adjuster while applying gm pn 12345501 (Canadian PN 992704) or equivalent lubricant. Place the intake camshaft then apply gm pn 12345501 (Canadian PN 992704) or equivalent lubricant. First secure the camshaft bearing caps using hand torque then tighten the bearing cap bolts by 3-turn increments until they reach their final torque setting of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). You need to complete the installation process by adding the intake camshaft position actuator.
