To replace the auxiliary negative battery cable first uninstalled auxiliary negative battery cable and remove auxiliary battery cable clips from the studs at the front of the dash. Next, take off the engine sight shield. Unfasten the bolt for the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable and then the auxiliary negative battery cable. This bolt might be located near the negative battery. For vehicles with one of the following engines: 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 4.6L, 5.7L, and 6.2L, follow steps (17) to (20). If the vehicle has a 8.1L engine also remove the engine wire harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt and the auxiliary negative battery cable. When installing, make sure that auxiliary negative battery cable terminal is behind the engine wiring harness ground terminal. Before installing the 8.1L engine, the auxiliary negative battery cable is installed, whereas the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt will be installed then tightened to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). The engine wirings harness ground terminal must be installed on top and inboard of the auxiliary negative battery cable crimp. For vehicles that have a 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L engine, install the auxiliary negative battery cable and the engine wiring harness 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L engine, install the auxiliary negative battery cable and the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt, tightening to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Lastly, reconnect auxiliary negative battery cable clip to studs at the front of the dash as well as re-install engine sight shield.
