To replace the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) without jl 4, it is important to clean the surrounding area of the electric hydraulic control unit (EHCU) to avoid contamination of abs component and wash away any drift. Remove the three electrical harness connectors from the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and mark/tie the
Brake Lines properly before removing them from the bpmv. Unbolt the ehcu mounting bracket to the vehicular frame rail and pull out the ehcu from the vehicle. Next, unscrew the bolts that hold the bpmv to the ehcu mounting bracket, and take out the two way abs pump motor connector. Roll off the four t-25 torx® bolts and the ebcm from the bpmv, using only the gentle force to prevent a possible damage to the ebcm. Clean the mounting surfaces of the ebcm and bpmv, after which, install the ebcm on the bpmv without using rtv or any other form of sealant. Replace enconi new ebcm bolts together with the new bpmv and tighten them to 5 nm on exactly the x-pattern. Connect the two-way abs pump motor connector to the ebcm, then install the bpmv to the ehcu braket, and fasten it with bolts, which are tightened to 9 nm (7 ft. Lbs.). Replace the ehcu to the vehicle frame and tighten the three ehcu bracket bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Join the two ebcm electrical harness connectors and move the brake pipes back to the plastic bracket on the frame prior to installing the bpmv brake pipes to the connections and tightening to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) vivastreet. Finally, bleed the break system using the proper procedures.
