Q: How to replace the rear wheel hub on Cadillac CTS?
A:
Start the rear wheel bearing/hub replacement by lifting the vehicle before supporting it and moving on to tire removal followed by wheel removal and finally the rear brake rotor removal process. First remove the wheel drive shaft nut along with the abs sensor electrical connector and the backing plate connector. Use a wrench to remove the mounting bolts from the parking brake cable bracket on the knuckle before removing the parking brake cable bracket. Disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub using the axle remover (J 45859) before removing its mounting bolts to extract the wheel bearing/hub and backing plate assembly from the knuckle. Use the Wheel Hub remover as needed to fully free the wheel bearing/hub from the drive axle before removing the axle remover (J 45859) from its position on the bearing/hub. Mount the wheel bearing/hub and backing plate again on the knuckle before tightening the mounting bolts to 125 nm (92 ft. Lbs.). Make sure to install the parking brake cable bracket while tightening its mounting bolts to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Attach the abs sensor electrical connector to the backing plate before moving it toward the main connector. Install a new wheel drive shaft nut, tightening it to 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.)the process involves installing the wheel drive shaft nut first and then the brake rotor before adding the tire and wheel. After that lower the car.
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing and wheel hub on an AWD on Cadillac STS?
A:
You need to lift and support the awd car before taking off its wheel and tire for hub bearing replacement. Begin the procedure by taking off the wheel driveshaft retaining nut and brake rotor and depositing them. Take off the abs electrical connector from its mounting under the splash shield. Use plaier tools to pull out wheel bearing/hub bolts and keep equipment away from the outer rubber boot seal to avoid tearing it. The wheel hub remover (J45859) tool and a similar implement will extract the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing assembly to free the wheel bearing/hub unit for removal. After positioning the wheel bearing hub unit put on its mounting bolts and make sure they reach 135 nm tightness. Reposition the abs electrical connector onto the splash shield and plug it back in place. Fit a fresh retaining nut for the wheel driveshaft and push it tightly to 160 nm (118 foot pounds), then replace the brake rotor and attach the wheel and tire. Finally, lower the vehicle.
