Vehicle elevation and tire and wheel removal is necessary before starting the process of changing the inner rear wheel steering Tie Rod End. Detach the Rack and Pinion Boot from the steering gear as the starting step. The process requires using the inner tie rod wrench (J 44665-1) and (J 44665-2) to remove the inner tie rod support clamp by turning it counterclockwise due to its right hand threading while the support nut features left hand threading. The steering gear needs the inner tie rod wrench (J 44665-2) for removing the inner tie rod from its position. Mount the inner tie rod onto the steering gear before using the inner tie rod wrench (J 44665-2) to fasten it with 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Proceed with installing the inner tie rod support clamp onto the steering gear then secure it at 25 n.m (18 lb ft) using both the inner tie rod wrench (J 44665-1) and (J 44665-2). To complete the repair install the Rack and Pinion Boot followed by the tire and wheel and lower the vehicle until performing a four wheel alignment.
