Initiating the repair of the power steering return hose begins with installing a drain pan under the vehicle followed by power steering return hose removal from the Power Steering Pump. Remove the mounting bracket retaining bolt from the power steering return hose which sits in the Cylinder Head before raising and supporting the vehicle. The removal sequence requires the front air deflector and the power steering gear heat shield. First detach the power steering return hose from its connectors to the wiring harness tie strap and frame brackets as well as power steering gear before removing the hose from under the vehicle. The first step for installation includes fitting the new power steering return hose and attaching it to the frame brackets. The hose should be securely fixed to the power steering gear at 30 nm (22 lb ft) before being fastened to the wiring harness through a new tie strap. First reinstall both the front air deflector and power steering gear heat shield similar to their original position then proceed to remove the drain pan while lowering the vehicle. Close the process by mounting the power steering return hose bracket onto the Cylinder Head using a retaining bolt which needs to be tightened up to 50 nm (37 lb ft). After that connect the hose to the Power Steering Pump while bleeding the system.
