How to replace the power seat switch on Cadillac DeVille?

orgetting the SIR circuit is the first step before you start replacing the power seat switch. Route the front seat for maximum height positioning so you can reach the fasteners through the angled seat cushion front. First remove the fasteners connecting the cushion to the seat adjuster before disconnecting electrical connectors and removing the knobs on the switch assembly. Start by removing the 2 push pins from within the switch trim plate. Then push down on the tabs found on the bottom section of the switch plate to remove the switch trim plate. To access the seat switch move the front seat cushion cover up after removing the J channels from the seat cushion. Apply the Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover (J 38778) to remove switch bracket retainers before releasing the locking tabs on the switch bracket allowing you to slide the seat switch from the seat bottom. Disconnect the switch electrical connector then pull down the front seat cushion and frame assembly from the adjuster. Connect the electrical connector to the seat switch first then slide the seat switch bracket assembly onto the seat bottom before installing the seat switch bracket retainers. Install the seat cover onto the switch so its holes line up with the switch assembly. Then place the seat cover J channels into their positions on the seat bottom frame. The final installation steps involve placing the seat switch trim plate followed by fitting the knobs to switches and matching up the front seat cushion and frame assembly to the seat adjuster. Connect the electrical connectors then push down on the front seat cushion to drive the studs through the seat adjuster so the rear of the seat cushion can be secured. Fasten the seat cushion with its fasteners at 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque before enabling the SIR.
