In order to replace the timing chain and sprockets, first, unplug the Oil Pump. Set the primary timing marks with the use of crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946). Then rebend and remove the secondary timing chains, primary drive chain tensioner. The next large step is to remove the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt and then remove the timing chain, crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket as a one piece assembly. For installation, center the timing marks of camshaft intermediate and crankshaft snowtops vertically in the installed position. Mount the starting timing chain on the drive sprockets by placing the number 1 piston at the top dead center (TDC) and therefore the crankshaft key way is at the 1'o'clock. Use the crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946) to line up the crankshaft key with the drive sprocket and install the timing chain, crankshaft sprocket and the camshaft intermediate sprocket as an assembly. Install the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt and tighten it to 60 nm, 44 ft. Lbs. The tensioner pin must not be removed until the installation of the secondary timing chains. Transition to installing the primary drive chain tensioner and the secondary timing chains. Lastly, undo the pin from the primary timing chain tensioner release lever and make sure the primary timing marks are vertical before closing the Oil Pump.
