The Clutch Master Cylinder in Cadillac CTS is used to create the hydraulic pressure that will enable the operation of the clutch in manual transmission Cadillac CTS cars. When the driver steps on the clutch pedal, Clutch Master Cylinder pushes hydraulic fluid to the slave cylinder thus allowing the clutch to come off the flywheel. It has a very crucial function in the processes of gear shifting and the general functioning of the transmission. When it comes to Cadillac CTS automobiles, there might be changes of the clutch master cylinders for these cars in the past years, and this change may reflect on the styling and the performance of the car. Some of the most frequent problems associate with the Clutch Master Cylinder are fluid leaks, spongy clutch pedal, and shifting problems are due to worn out seals or cylinder bores. The Clutch Master Cylinder takes a lot of force to function within the manual transmission system of the Cadillac CTS, hence, it is essential to preserve the Clutch Master Cylinder.

Cadillac CTS Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on Cadillac CTS?
    A:
The first step for Clutch Master Cylinder (CTS) replacement involves stripping the insulator from the driver side instrument panel while disconnecting the clutch pedal position switch electrical connection. First disconnect the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal pin and then loose the clutch fluid reservoir retaining bolt before removing both the fender reinforcement and the reservoir. Draining coolant and disconnecting surge tank coolant lines should not be performed when this procedure is underway. The procedure requires separating the surge tank from mounting bolts before moving it aside. When stopping fluid leakages through hose connections install a rubber cap directly over the hose fitting. After rotating the Clutch Master Cylinder clockwise 1/8 turn remove it from the cowl and detach the clutch pedal position switch from the master cylinder. To mount the clutch pedal position switch onto the new Clutch Master Cylinder place the clutch fluid reservoir connection at the 2 o'clock position while installing the cowl master cylinder. Guide the housing keys along the clutch pedal bracket tabs while pulling the master cylinder counterclockwise for a full rotation before complete seating at the 12 o'clock vertical position for the reservoir hose connection. Begin by attaching the clutch hydraulic hose then reinstall the coolant surge tank while mounting the clutch fluid reservoir to the fender reinforcement using 36 nm torque (27 ft. Lbs.). Push the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod onto the clutch pedal pin for secure attachment. Proceed by attaching the clutch pedal position switch electrical connector followed by reinstallation of the driver side instrument panel insulator and performing a clutch hydraulic system bleed procedure.
