Buick Rendezvous Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on Buick Rendezvous?
    A:
The first step to replace a Heater Core includes draining the cooling system and taking out the wiper module. Safely relocate the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose before you unfasten the air cleaner cover together with the intake tube assembly. The throttle control and cruise control cables need removal from the tbi mounting bracket to avoid cable housing damage followed by transmission fluid filling tube removal. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to remove clasps securing both heater hoses at the Heater Core area then the vehicle occupier must cap the Heater Core pipes and detach the heater hoses to avoid coolant leakage inside the cabin. Start by removing right and left i/p insulators together with the center floor air outlet while also uninstalling screws that hold the heater outlet duct until the duct can be taken out. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to disconnect Heater Core cover tie strap then take out screws retaining Heater Core cover and remove the Heater Core cover from its mount. The Heater Core removal starts with unscrewing the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp then pulling out the Heater Core from the hvac module housing. You should install the Heater Core by placing it inside the hvac module case before securing it with the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw which must be tightened to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Attach the Heater Core cover to its retaining screws before tightening them to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Following installation of the heater outlet duct with screws set to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in), workers should reinstall the i/p harness to Heater Core cover tie strap and the center floor air outlet and both i/p insulators. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to install tension on the heater hose clamps by connecting the hoses to the Heater Core. Installation of the transmission fluid filler tube along with the air cleaner cover and intake hose will conclude the procedure. The next step involves linking throttle and cruise control cables to the tbi mounting bracket followed by reinstallation of the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and filling coolant. It finishes with the wiper module reinstall.
