How to replace the steering wheel on Buick Rainier?

You must disable the sir system before beginning the replacement of the Steering Wheel. The first step is to uninstall the inflator module followed by the horn plunger extraction as you push the Steering Column plunger until it reaches the stop and turn it 90 degrees. Disconnect the electrical connection to the Steering Wheel followed by removing the retaining nut that holds the Steering Wheel to the Steering Wheel shaft. The specified Steering Wheel puller j 1859-a (J 1859-A) can be used for wheel removal along with either the Steering Wheel puller adapter j-36541-a (J-36541-A) or Steering Wheel puller legs j 42578 (J 42578). You need to install the puller tool before taking out the Steering Wheel. After mounting the Steering Wheel to the Steering Wheel shaft apply the retaining nut with 41 n.m (30 lb ft) torque. When restoring the sir system you must first plug in the Steering Wheel electrical connector then put in the horn plunger followed by reinstalling the inflator module.
