To replace the Steering Wheel, one needs to disable the sir, then remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. Unplug the Steering Wheel carrier and, if so equipped, remove the weight block from the base of the Steering Wheel. Next, release the Steering Wheel retaining nut, paying attention to the orientation mark at the
Steering Shaft and the wheel to ensure proper installation. Using the Steering Wheel puller legs (J42578) and Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A), remove the Steering Wheel and then remove these tools from the Steering Wheel. During the installation, run Steering Wheel wiring through the Steering Wheel, align the marks and install the Steering Wheel. Tighten the Steering Wheel retainer nut to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.), reinstall the weight block if applicable, connect the Steering Wheel electrical connector, and lastly, the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before extending the sir system.
