The Cam Gear is one of the most critical parts that make a huge difference in the Buick Enclave series market. The duties of this Cam Gear are closely associated to those of the camshaft, which enables variable adjustment of the valve timing, contributing to an increase of the car torque and horsepower in various models of Enclave. The cam gear is particularly significant for Buick Enclave mechanical characteristics because its timing enhances engine efficiency and boosts the car's power. The Buick Enclave is no stranger to different variations of the Cam Gear depending on the specific performance demands of the corresponding model, contributing to the vehicle's smooth drive. Interestingly, the Buick Enclave has large cavities with low noise vibration and harshness or NVH that is boosted up by the appropriate working of the Cam Gear. This component influences vehicle operation and performance and is further used to provide safety measures since the timing adjustments also affect the engine's operation under several driving conditions. The Cam Gear is widely applicable to various models of Enclave allowing the drivers to take advantage of increased efficiency and safety regardless the selected model. Thus, Cam Gear is known to be absolutely reliable and performant on the automotive market, which is an embodiment of the brand's values.

Buick Enclave Cam Gear Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Cam Gear on Bank 2 (Left Side) Exhaust on Buick Enclave?
    A:
To change the left exhaust camshaft position actuator on bank 2 you need one Timing Chain retention tool type en-48313. Begin the process by taking out both the lower Intake Manifold and the left camshaft cover. You need to detach both left intake and exhaust Camshaft Position Sensors before removing the left intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids. Turn the crankshaft balancer nut clockwise single direction then rotate the balancer until camshafts match parallel to the camshaft cover rail. Mark corresponding positions on both the Timing Chain links and the neighboring teeth of the intake and exhaust camshaft actuators. Set up the open-end wrench on the hex cast inside the left intake and exhaust camshafts to untighten the chain that links the actuators. Set the en-48313 legs back then slide it between the camshaft actuators ensuring the lowest part of the tool touches directly over the cylinder head surface. Step one leg of the en-48313 tool toward Timing Chain Guide by turning its t-handle clockwise and insert one end behind the Timing Chain Guide. Press forward with the legs until they reach the Timing Chain and nest the foot completely into the chain links for stability. First tighten the en-48313 manually before loosening the Timing Chain with an open-end wrench again. The en-48313 is now properly installed. Open the open-end wrench to stop engine rotation and loosen the camshaft position actuator bolt before taking out the left exhaust actuator bolt and actuator. Hang the Timing Chain over the en-48313 if both actuators are being removed and replaced. Realign the marks from disassembly between the exhaust camshaft actuator and intake camshaft actuator while putting them in position. Set the exhaust camshaft actuator onto its camshaft position and fasten the actuator's bolt by hand. You must then take off the en-48313 and torque the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft). Reinstall both intake and exhaust solenoids along with sensors and left camshaft parts before placing on the lower Intake Manifold.
  • Q: How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 1 (Right Side) Exhaust on Buick Enclave?
    A:
You need to remove both lower Intake Manifold and the right camshaft cover to access the bank 1 exhaust camshaft position actuator. Untuck both the right Camshaft Position Sensors before you remove the sensor actuator solenoids. When you rotate the crankshaft balancer bolt clockwise one turn and turn the balancer until the camshafts align parallel to the camshaft cover rail. Paint a stick onto the Timing Chain links and adjacent teeth of both the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuators before placing them on the baseplate. To create gap space between the actuator parts activate the open end wrench while moving the camshafts toward each other. Slide the en-48313 Timing Chain retention tool (EN-48313) legs backward by unscrewing it then position this tool between the camshaft actuators close to the Cylinder Head. Adjust the en-48313 moving control by turning the t-handle clockwise until the release feet tap the Timing Chain and center themselves in a link pocket to stop movement. First attach the en-48313 then expand the t-handle with an open end wrench. After installing the en-48313 in place, put an open end wrench on the actuator bolt to stop engine rotation before unwinding the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and removing both parts. If removing both actuator parts, let the Timing Chain drop over the en-48313. Place the exhaust camshaft actuator alignment mark on its Timing Chain reference marks to match the marks you made during removal. Adjust the intake camshaft actuator alignment mark at the same time. Connect the exhaust camshaft actuator to its position on the camshaft before lightly tightening the installation bolt and taking out the en-48313. Secure the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft) and put back the right intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids then install right intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors followed by the right camshaft cover and lower Intake Manifold.
