First disconnect the electrical connector from the EGR valve before removing its two retaining nuts which will expose the EGR valve for replacement. The gasket should be taken off the EGR valve adapter before cleaning all dust and debris from the EGR valve adaptor. Install a new gasket onto the EGR adapter before installing the EGR valve with both retaining nuts and apply torque to 30 N.m (22 lb ft). Reinstall the EGR valve electrical connector as the last step of the procedure.
