How to replace a two-piece drive shaft on 2010 GMC Sierra 1500?

Start the process to replace a two-piece propeller shaft by lifting and supporting the vehicle. Property markings should be applied to every driveline component starting from propeller shafts to drive axles alongside pinion flanges and output shafts in order to achieve original installation alignment. First loosen and then remove both of the rear propeller shaft bolts and the universal joint strap. A flat-bladed tool should be used to disconnect the boot fixture from the front propeller Slip Yoke and also from the center bearing. Thump the propeller yoke ears when removing them to prevent damaging the injection joints. The procedure requires removal of the rear propeller shaft from the rear axle together with the center support bearing. Mark the transmission as well as Transfer Case alongside the propeller shaft Slip Yoke and universal bearing cap and propeller shaft when your vehicle has a Slip Yoke. In cases where your output shaft holds the yoke you should make marks on both the output shaft flange and universal joint bearing cap. Begin the process by taking out the nuts from the center bearing support along with the support itself. Vehicle owners should use a jack stand to support the propeller shaft before unbolting the transmission or Transfer Case and removing the propeller shaft when a yoke is seamed to the output shaft. You should connect the rear propeller shaft after installing both the boot and new clamps on the front Slip Yoke and verifying master spline alignment. Silicon grease must cover the Slip Yoke as well as the rear propeller shaft before aligning reference points between the rear axle housing and pinion yoke while also aligning universal bearing caps with the rear propeller shaft. Secure the airboat propeller yoke straps while using bolts that require torque of 25 nm (18 lb ft). The last operation uses j 43218 to connect the boot clamps followed by lowering the vehicle.
