Service or repair of a coil spring begins with removing the strut from the vehicle. Place the strut inside the j 45400 while maintaining spring compression until the strut has unrestricted movement. Twist the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring shows complete compression. Start by removing the upper strut mount nut with a torx(R) socket and strut rod socket until it clears. Afterward, extract the upper strut mount and coil spring from the j 45400. Take the strut out of the j 45400. When assembling the j 45400 position the coil spring alongside the upper strut mount before turning the spring compressor forcing screw until the spring achieves compression. Place the coil spring together with upper strut mount to the strut mounting spot and then install the strut retaining nut without tightness. Apply a 45 torx(R) socket to the strut shaft while using a strut rod socket or equivalent tool to install the upper strut mount nut. Torque the nut to 70 nm (52 lb ft). Put the strut into the original vehicle positioning after removing it from the j 45400.
