During wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot replacement start by removing and discarding the large seal retaining clamp before removing and discarding the small seal retaining clamp. First clean the joint assembly then use j 8059 (Snap Ring Pliers) to successfully extract the shaft retaining ring. Remove the Axle Shaft from the joint assembly with caution because the ball retainer needs to remain stacked in place but it is not serviceable and servicing could result in decreased vehicle performance and possible personal injury. Thankfully you can now take the seal off your joint assembly. Begin installation by setting the new small seal retaining clamp in place on the seal prior to slipping the seal onto the Axle Shaft. Attach the joint assembly to the Axle Shaft and implement j 8059 snap ring pliers for shaft retaining ring installation. The joint assembly requires 120-140 grams (4.2-4.9 ounces) of recommended grease for filling alongside the same grease volume for the tripot. Use j 35566 (Seal Clamp Pliers) to crimp the new large seal retaining clamp before crimping the new small retaining clamp with this tool.
