How to replace the coil springs and shock absorber assembly on 2010 Cadillac STS?

A shock absorber and spring replacement requires the vehicle to be lifted while supported before wheel removal. First remove the shock yoke and when your vehicle has esc or automatic headlamp aiming disconnect the suspension position sensor link rod from the upper Control Arm before both assembly and disassembly through the use of hand tools. To disconnect the upper Control Arm from the Steering Knuckle use the j 24319-b (Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller) while also removing the upper Control Arm to Steering Knuckle nut. After lowering the vehicle workers must disconnect the coil harness connector specifically on esc vehicles and separate shock module upper bolts to remove the module from the vehicle. The shock module installation requires placement into the vehicle followed by tightening the upper mounting bolts to 112 nm (83 lb ft). The procedure starts with reinstalling the upper Control Arm to the Steering Knuckle for vehicles with esc while raising the vehicle to 80 nm (59 lb ft). After that reconnect the damper coil harness connector and close the vehicle. Install the shock yoke after which you must connect the suspension position sensor link rod when your vehicle has either esc or automatic headlamp aiming. Lastly, secure the shock to the yoke. Complete the repair work by rising the vehicle then mounting the tire along with its wheel followed by a vehicle height adjustment.
