- Q: How to replace the driver or passenger seat cushion pad on 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer?A: The procedure to replace driver or passenger seat back cushion cover and pad begins with relaxed lumbar adjustment followed by front seat assembly removal from the vehicle. The first step is to remove the seat pad trim panel together with the head restraint. The screw holding the seat belt bezel in position against the seat back can be removed before unclipping the j-strips below the seat back cover. Begin by removing the push-pins from the seat cover and taking caution to remove the plastic strips that secure the seat back cover to the side air bag inflator module cover. Start by removing the seat back cover from behind the trim edge of the side air bag inflator module. Decrease the pressure on the seat back pad by compression. Lift the seat back cover with the foam pad split in two as you remove it. You must disconnect the inner velcro retaining strips on the seat cover before taking off the three hog rings that attach the seat back pad to the reinforcement bar at the seat back top. The guides of the head restraints become visible after the pad is spread open. Use locking tab squeeze maneuvers to remove them before extracting the complete seat back cover. Before uninstalling the seat back pad from the seat back frame, disconnect the electrical connector when heating is available. Install the seat back pad to the frame while connecting the electrical connector if the seat has this component. J-strips should be secured across the seat back cover bottom part before using push-pins to attach seat cover flaps to the seat frame and installing the seat trim panel. The installation ends with the front seat assembly repositioned into the vehicle along with the head restraint.
