How to replace the radiator fan and fan shroud on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The first step for Radiator fan and shroud replacement requires draining of the cooling system through either the vac-n-fill or static fill procedure. The next steps include taking away the air inlet duct then disconnecting the upper Radiator Hose from the Radiator and unclipping the hose from the fan shroud. When needed you should relocate or eliminate the surge tank inlet hose positioned at the front of the Radiator. First disconnect the Radiator fan electrical connectors then remove the clip touching the wiring harness to the shroud before removing bolts from the fan shroud that secure transmission cooler lines. The engineer should open the engine oil cooler line clip to remove the cooler lines if needed. You should break the bolts securing the fan shroud and separate the Radiator fan and shroud unit. Reinstall the Radiator fan and shroud by placing their three lower tabs into the Radiator support flange so the shroud remains parallel with the Radiator. Fasten the Radiator fan shroud using bolts while tightening them to 9 nm (80 lb in). First attach the cooler lines to their respective places on the clip followed by clip closure before connecting electrical connectors to Radiator fans while installing the shroud wiring harness clip. Mount the transmission cooling line bolts to fan shroud holes using 4 nm (35 lb in) torque. Secure the transmission cooling line bolts onto the fan shroud while applying 4 nm of torque force or 35 lb in. Install the surge tank inlet hose to the Radiator along with proper repositioning of the surge tank inlet hose clamp if needed. Attach the Radiator inlet hose clip at the fan shroud then connect the upper Radiator Hose while installing the air inlet duct. Complete the cooling system either by using vac-n-fill method or static filling.
