How to replace the intake camshaft position sensor (CMP) on 2009 Chevrolet Malibu?

Before replacing the intake camshaft position sensor (CMP) the air cleaner outlet duct must be taken off first. The CMP sensor wiring harness electrical connector needs disconnection from the CMP sensor. Disconnect the compterized engine control module sensor electrical connector after removing its mounting bolt and sensor. Inspect the CMP sensor for damage before installing it then replace it if evident damage exists. A clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the CMP sensor O-ring followed by sensor installation. Fasten the CMP sensor bolt with 10 Nm of torque (89 lb inch torque specification). The engine wiring harness electrical connector should be connected to the intake CMP sensor before reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct.
