How to replace the center exhaust pipe on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

The proper method to install adjustable jack stands under the front and rear of the intermediate pipe requires securely raising and supporting the vehicle first. Unfasten the two exhaust muffler band clamps (2, 5) to separate both left and right tailpipe/muffler assemblies from their connection to the intermediate pipe. Remove the lower Exhaust Pipe hanger bolts combined with the exhaust manifold nuts after which you can drop the jack stands to retrieve the intermediate pipe. When reinstalling the original intermediate pipe users must first mark the existing clamps locations before grinding off old ones and putting on new ones at those positions. After placing the intermediate pipe back on the jack stands you should raise them to achieve correct positioning of the pipe. Tighten all exhaust clamps and bolts only until they become tight enough for alignment but keep the adjustable jackstands in place. Proceed with tightening the Exhaust Pipe hanger lower bolts at a torque of 50 nm (37 lb ft) while the exhaust manifold nuts require 20 nm (15 lb ft) and the exhaust muffler clamps (2, 5) bolts need to be tightened to 44 nm (32 lb ft) after lowering the vehicle.
