How to replace the intermediate exhaust pipe on Cadillac XLR?

Following support of the vehicle with jacks you will need to set up adjustable stands underneath the intermediate pipe front and back. Three steps are required: loosing exhaust muffler band clamps (2, 5) and disconnecting left and right tailpipe/muffler assemblies from the intermediate pipe. You should detach the Exhaust Pipe hanger lower bolts and exhaust manifold nuts before lowering the jack stands to remove the intermediate pipe. The original intermediate pipe reinstall requires marking the Tail Pipe/muffler band clip positions before grinding off the old clips and placing new ones at their marked locations. Put the intermediate pipe on the jack stands before using them to elevate the pipe into position. Tighten all exhaust clamps along with bolts until they reach a proper alignment before taking out the adjustable jack stands.
