    A: Start the boot and outer joint replacement process by removing the drive shaft from the vehicle then mounting it inside a soft-jawed vice without cutting the boot's sealing surface. Strips low-profile boot clamps from the CV joint boot until both clamps along with the boot itself can be removed from the CV joint housing. Beginning with shafts featuring ear type boot clamp removal requires eliminating the outer boot clamp and inner boot clamp from CV joint boot before extracting CV joint from wheel drive shaft using the combination of a wood block and hammer. Use the J 8059 - snap ring pliers to detach the retaining ring from the wheel drive shaft before you can remove the CV joint boot. Inspect the wheel drive shaft CV joint. During boot assembly keep the clamp and boot on the wheel drive shaft while ensuring that the boot shaft rests within its designated groove. Fix the retaining ring onto the wheel drive shaft by using J 8059 - snap ring pliers before closing the boot clamp with J 35910 - drive axle boot clamp pliers until the gap reaches 2.15 mm (0.85 in). Use a block of wood struck with a hammer to install the CV joint onto the wheel drive shaft before filling half of the lubricant inside the CV boot and the other half inside the CV joint. Remove excess lubricant. Use the J 35910 - drive axle boot clamp pliers but also the torque or ratchet wrench and breaker bar to shut down the boot clamp on ear type wheel drive shapes until the gap shows 2.15 mm (0.85 in) whereas the locking tabs stay locked tightly. Use the CH 48894 - drive axle boot clamp pliers to close the boot clamp before moving the CV joint through circular motions 4 to 5 times for lubricant distribution. After completing the process remove the wheel drive shaft from the vise to reinstallation.
