How to replace the rear differential cover and gasket on 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

In order to replace the rear axle housing cover and gasket first; lift the vehicle and drain the rear axle according to the car's circumstances for the particular axle (8.6 Inch Axle, 9.5 Inch LD Axle, 10.5 Inch Axle). Then, come off the rear axle housing cover bolts and throw them away, after which you take off the rear axle housing cover catching the oil in a drain and taking off any gasket material from the rear axle housing and the cover. When installing, mount the new gasket and the rear axle housing cover on the axle housing while not reusing the rear axle housing cover bolts. Apply the new rear axle housing cover bolts and tighten them in a crosswise manner using a wrench to 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Lastly, put in the correct fluid into the rear axle, and drop the vehicle.
