2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coolant Pipe Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the radiator surge tank outlet coolant pipe on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To replace the radiator surge tank outlet hose/pipe, drain the cooling system (GE 47716). Next, remove the radiator support. Disengage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank with the help of the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and disconnect the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank. Remove surge tank outlet hose assembly from support tabs of the cooling Fan Shroud and relax tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp on the Water Pump. Remove the surge tank outlet hose off the Water Pump using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to release the tension of the surge tank outlet hose clamp from the heater pipe assembly and remove it of the heater pipe assembly. Sheath the hood's air inlet with the hood-o-log. During installation, lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant and install the surge tank outlet hose assembly to the vehicle. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to pull tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the heatople assembly of the hose. Attach the surge tank outlet hose to the heatople assembly by connecting it to the heater pipe. Attach the surge tank outlet hose to the Water Pump, applying tension to the surge tank outlet hose clamp connection on the Water Pump using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Connect the surge tank outlet hose assembly to the surge tank outlet hose support tabs, and then connect the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank and tighten the surge tank outlet hose clamp tight at the surge tank using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Finally, install the radiator support and charge the cooling system (GE 47716).
