2007 Chevrolet Corvette Coolant Pipe Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the surge tank outlet coolant pipe on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Begin replacement of the surge tank outlet hose assembly by draining your vehicle's cooling system. The removal of the radiator support reveals easy access for hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to loosen surge tank outlet hose clamp tension at both surge tank locations. Detach the surge tank outlet hose assembly from its support tabs on the cooling Fan Shroud before moving on to release tension from the hose clamp at the Water Pump and remove the hose from its position at the pump. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to free the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the heater pipe assembly before separating the hose from the heater pipe assembly. Extract the surge tank outlet hose assembly from the entire vehicle system. Lubricate the inside hose diameters using clean coolant before fitting the surge tank outlet hose assembly on the vehicle. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to install tight tensions on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the heater pipe assembly while securing the hose to that connection point. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the Water Pump by using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to tighten the clamp at the Water Pump location. Screw the surge tank outlet hose assembly onto the cooling Fan Shroud support tabs. Afterward, secure the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank while using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to tighten the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank. Place the radiator support back in position before you complete the cooling system refill.
