The installation requires pulling up on the shifter ring to expose the 4th gear locking tab after which locking pliers must be placed as depicted then rotated upward to compress the tabs. First engage the 4th gear locking tab of the shift control assembly housing followed by placing the transmission into 4th gear position before you press down on the cable retainers and reposition the shifter 4th gear lock clip to its original position.
