- Q: How to replace the starter motor (LY7 - Gas, 6 CYL, 3.6L, SFI, V6, Alum) on 2008 Cadillac STS?A: To replace this motor Starter (LY7 - Gas, 6 CYL 3.6 L, SFI V6, ALUM), turn off the ignition and remove the battery negative cable. Then, take off the left Catalytic Converter. Pull the Starter solenoid, turn the vehicle so to prevent sparks, and then detach the Starter terminal nut and battery positive cable from Starter. Then, unfasten the bolts from the Starter motor, and pull out this part. For installation, first install the Starter motor and see to it that the Starter motor mounting bolts are installed and tightened to a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Attach the battery positive cable to the Starter and fasten with a startetinal nut and tighten it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Last of all, attach the electrical connector to the Starter solenoid and re-fit the left Catalytic Converter.
