How to Replace the Coil Springs (FE1 and FE3) on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

The replacement of the coil spring (FE1 and FE3) requires vehicle elevation and support first. Begin by removing the tire and wheel followed by jack-supporting the lower Control Arm. First disconnect the automatic level control link from the lower Control Arm and next unscrew both the shock absorber lower retaining bolts followed by the adjustment link retaining nut. The steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) provides controlled movement of the lower Control Arm while it lowers onto the support assembly so the coil spring can be removed. Placement of the new coil spring should start by seating the insulator correctly within the lower Control Arm. Once the lower Control Arm is in position raise it again then bolt the shock absorber lower retaining bolts when they reach 25 n.m (18 lb ft). After attaching the adjustment link to the Control Arm use the retaining nut to secure it while torquing to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) followed by an additional 180 degrees of torque. Complete the installation by reharnessing the automatic level control link to the lower Control Arm followed by tire and wheel replacement then lowering the vehicle.
