2007 Buick Rendezvous Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the steering knuckle in the rear suspension on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The process of replacing a rear suspension Steering Knuckle begins with vehicle elevation using a support system. First remove the rear wheel followed by the wheel bearing/hub. Build the utility stand beneath the lower Control Arm before you separate the Tie Rod end from the knuckle assembly. The work requires detaching the height sensor link between lower Control Arm and upper Control Arm from their knuckle attachment points. First loosen but don't remove the lower ball joint nut while inserting the ball joint/stud separator (J 41820) tool to disengage the ball joint from the knuckle. Takedown the ball joint/stud separator (J 41820) before removing the ball joint to knuckle nut and extracting the knuckle from the vehicle. Mount the wheel speed sensor connector bracket onto the knuckle by using the bracket bolt and nut and applying 12 n.m (106 lb in) torque. After installing the knuckle into the vehicle position the ball joint onto the knuckle nut before tightening the fastener to 35 n.m (26 lb ft) with an additional 130 degrees torsion. Securely fasten the upper Control Arm to the knuckle using a torque of 85 n.m (63 lb ft). The sensor link requires connection to the lower Control Arm before connecting the Tie Rod to the knuckle using a torque of 80 n.m (59 lb ft). After removing the utility stand from the lower Control Arm position install the wheel bearing/hub and rear wheel as the final step before lowering the vehicle.
