2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to properly replace brake lines to ensure safety on 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: When changing brake pipes use double walled steel brake pipe to prevent failure of brake system and see that the pipes along with their replacement are routed and held up through their original fasteners without damage that causes personal harm. Keep 6mm (1/4 inch) clearance of parallel brake pipes. Start by unscrewing the brake pipe fittings, removing break pipe fasteners, and pulling out the brake pipe out of the vehicle. Bend a new brake pipe so that it fits correctly, followed by installation with a clearance of 19 mm (3/4 inch) from any moving/vibrating component. Secure the brake pipe fasteners, after connecting the brake pipe fittings to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) or the wheel jounce hoses to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) or the wheel jounce hoses to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.), and the master cylinder to the same specification. Finally, bleed the hydraulic brakes system.
